Thaddeus Foster, 80, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2020.
Thaddeus Foster was born June 27th, 1939 to the late Schumann Foster and Jewel Acey in Detroit, Michigan.
Thad as he was known by close friends and relatives, attended Detroit Public Schools later he served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1959. He was wed to the love of his life Ruth Ann Hughes in 1967. Unto this union a son the apple of their eye, Marcus Foster was born.
Continuing his education at Highland Park Community College he received an Associates Degree in Industrial Design. He then received his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education from University of Michigan. In his quest for knowledge he received a Masters of Arts in Education Administration from Marygrove College.
Chrysler Corporation employed him for several years until he resigned to start his very own staffing company Foster and Associates. Thad was a model and initiated a black fashion magazine in the early 1960s when there we no magazines of its kind for black youth.
Thad studied a myriad of philosophies and religions. Peace and service seemed to be the recurring theme that he embodied in all the teachings.
Dad was a very kind person with many sides to his personality. He was a wonderful husband, father, and listener who offered great advice, if you wanted to hear it or not. If you have the pleasure of being in his presence, you were guaranteed to leave laughing or with a smile on your face. He enjoyed and sharing his knowledge and love of Black History and the contributions of Black Inventors in American History.
In his leisure he enjoyed spending time with loved ones. He also enjoyed art, drumming, and jazz with “MILES” as his favorite musician. That was born with a gift of artistry. His specialty was abstract art, paintings and sculptures. His creativity knew no bounds.
He is survived by his son Marcus Foster (LaShon Foster). Grandchildren Sidney Foster-Benelli (Jean-Paul) and India Foster. Nieces and Nephews the late Linda Eaton, Karen Mackey (Mark), Regina Mitchell, Elaine Parker, Robert Lee, Dennis Parker, Kenny Parker (Lina), Ronnie Parker (Ella), Aaron Stowers (Alisha), Jason Smith (Alice). Other family Fiancé Sylvia AKA (Lil Bird), her children Shaun Smith, Grace Mills and a host of Family and Friends.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Foster will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Boston's Mortuary, 4300 Statesville Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28269.
