HUNTERSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA
JUNE 9, 1950 - FEBRUARY 19, 2021
Marlene Ann Edinger passed away on February 19, 2021 at the age of 70 years old at her home in Charlotte, NC in the company of her children, grandchildren and beloved dog, Riley. She was born on June 9, 1950 in Toledo, OH and was a free spirit growing up often pushing the boundaries and breaking the mold after a traditional Catholic upbringing. She loved her family immensely and could often be heard using the phrase “but we’re family” to try and diffuse any situation. She would give anybody the shirt off her back if needed or a place to stay – even strangers because they were strangers until you said hello. Marlene spent her working life as a quality engineer for IBM in Tucson, AZ until she transferred to Charlotte, NC in 1989. She truly loved her job teaching others. She will be remembered most as a loving mother and grandmother who always volunteered her time in caring for her grandchildren in ways they will truly cherish forever. She enjoyed spending her free time volunteering at the Church, the Charlotte Library, and the Carolina Actors Studio Theater. She was very creative and became quite skilled with stained glass art and jewelry which she would often make for others or to auction off for charity events raising money for local business and the Church. She loved reading and was an excellent writer and could always be found with a book in her hand. When able, travelling was one of her favorite activities with the beach, Sedona, AZ, and driving to see her family in Ohio and Florida topping her preferred locations. She often talked about how much she enjoyed having dinner dates with her neighbors and going to the theater. Mom/Grandma will truly be missed by those that loved her dearly and we know she is no longer in pain and on her way to meet with those many family and friends that have been waiting for her on the other side to show her around.
She is survived by former spouse, Daniel Edinger of Charlotte, NC, daughter Keli (Albert) Mendivil and grandchild Austyn of Tucson, AZ, son Zach (Amy) Edinger with grandchildren Isabel, Jack, and Colin, with whom she lived with, in Charlotte, NC, son Dylaney Edinger of Los Angeles, CA, mother Emily Nalodka, sister Jeanne (Jim), brother Jim (Pam) of Toledo, OH, sister Chris (Larry) in Clearwater, FL and numerous nieces and nephews along with friends Damon, Tim, and Cally (best friend).
