Kathleen Ward 83, passed away on Friday, June 26,2020.

Kathleen Ward was born in New York, NY (Harlem) on September 11, 1936 to the late Perry Levan Sr. & Catherine Levan. Kathleen attended the New York City Public School system and graduated from Mabel Dean Bacon Vocational High School for Arts and Design where she studied Interior Design. Kathleen had a passion for decorating and sewing. She was a Master Seamstress who could design all types of clothing, window treatments and bedding. She also had a heart for Interior Decorating where she could decorate homes from the inside & out.
In 1941, Kathleen became a member of Second Canaan Baptist Church in New York, NY. Kathleen was a woman of God who loved the Lord. As she grew up in the church she served on the Pastors' Aide Board and the Ushers' Board.
Kathleen later moved to the Bronx, NY when she married the late Robert Ward. Kathleen then worked for two department stores: Alexander's and Hearn's where she was employed as a Window Designer for more than 20 years attracting the attention of many shoppers. Later she also worked for Domino Sugar Refinery as an assembly line worker. While being employed she also worked from home enjoying her passion as a seamstress; sewing and designing for many people.
For over 30 years she opened her heart and home to become a foster parent with Edwin Gould Services For Children and Families.
Kathleen affectionally known as "Sis" or "Aunt Sis" loved family and children. She had a zest for life and enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, listening to music and dancing.
Kathleen was a strict parent and disciplinarian to those who knew and loved her. She was a dynamic woman who meant what she said and said what she meant. She didn't believe in sleeping late on any day of the week. There were times when she would bang pots in the kitchen just to wake up the entire house at 7am on a Saturday morning.
Kathleen had a big heart and a love for people. She helped anyone she could and gave unselfishly of herself. If you wanted something to eat or someone to talk to you could always count on her.

In 1999 Kathleen relocated to Charlotte, NC in her own apartment. In 2000 she became a member of Greater Providence Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Fred Gibson, Pastor. Shortly thereafter, she decided to reside with her son Mark and his family.
