Christine Houpe 78, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020. 

Christine was born February 20,1942 in Morganton, North Carolina to the late Winfred and Annie Catherine Corpening. She was an Olive Hill High School graduate and shortly after loving wife and mother.

Christine enjoyed a twenty-year career with the First Union/Wachovia National Bank.

She was a devoted member of the Chapel of Christ the King Episcopal Church. She served as director of the church's community youth programs and church administrator.  While there she won awards for her outreach and the church fellowship hall was named in her honor.

Grannie enjoyed her family. Her home became the focal point for family events and gatherings. A loving mother and Grand Mother she was most pleased when her family was gathered. Christine loved all things country she never forgot her days as a Yellow Mountain Rd farm girl. She made the world’s best pound cake and mastered homemade peach ice cream.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years Ernest Houpe, daughter, Caroline Houpe-Cooper,sons, Michael D. Houpe and Larry E. Houpe. granddaughter, Nicolle C. Houpe, grandsons, Darrick Cooper, Darius Boswell; Timothy Boswell, Caleb Houpe, Cole Houpe, great grandson, Tekoa Houpe.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 28, 2020 at 10:00 am at Boston’s-Roseboro’s Mortuary 4300 Statesville Road, Charlotte, NC. A memorial service will be graveside at Gethsemane Park 1504 Sugar Creek Rd 11:30 am, with Interment to follow.
