Ronnie Allen Mason, 62, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019.
Ronnie Allen Mason was born on September 27, 1956. He was the son of Henry and Helen (Pride) Mason and the third of seven children.
As a child, Ronnie was a people’s person. He never met a stranger. This was a characteristic that would follow him throughout his life. He was very comical and had a genuine personality. He expressed his love, care, and concern for others and always helped his family and friends.
Ronnie Mason was united in holy matrimony with Gloria Ann McBride. Ronnie Mason was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin. He was a best friend to his daughter, Aaren, and was a wonderful grandfather to his granddaughter, Seyla in many ways.
After graduating from Olympic High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, Ronnie started working at The Charlotte Observer at the age of eighteen . He started his career in the pressroom and gradually flourished . Before he retired after 40 years of being a dedicated worker, he was the first African American lead Pressman in The Charlotte Observer.
In his spare time, you would find Ronnie listening to music, watching football especially his Carolina Panther, but most of all his enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Ronnie Mason departed this life on June 30, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Mason; mother, Helen (Pride) Mason; brother, Ali Akbar Shaheed; and sister, Helen Annette Mason.
He leaves to cherish his memory to his daughter, Aaren Crawford; granddaughter, Seyla Brown; sister, Kathy Mason; brothers, Carl Mason, Kenny Mason, and Jerry Dunham; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
A viewing for Mr. Mason will be held from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Boston's Mortuary 4300 Statesville Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28269.
A funeral service for Mr. Mason will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019, at Boston's Mortuary. The visitation will begin at 11:30 AM and the funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM. There will be a private interment for Mr. Mason.
The Mason family have entrusted arrangements to Boston's Mortuary.
