Nikita Rochelle Honeycutt Ravenell 58, passed away on Wednesday September 4, 2019 at Atrium Health Charlotte, NC.
Mrs. Nikita Rochelle Honeycutt Ravenell was born on January 10, 1961. She was the daughter of Ora Lee Honeycutt Riggins and the late Thelmore Erving. She married her husband Wendell Todd Ravenell on February 16, 1985, and raised two loving children Torre Dontae Honeycutt, Malik Ishmael Ravenell. She accepted Christ, and was a longtime member of Mt Vernon Missionary Baptist Church Charlotte, NC. She ran track, and graduated from Olympic high School in Charlotte NC in 1979.
She was employed over the years with the Westin, CMC Main, and drove a bus for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. She was a dedicated church member, served as a Pastor’s Aid, and worked in the kitchen. She was affectionately known to family and friends as “Kita”.
Besides the abounding joy she gained from spending quality time with family and friends. She enjoyed laughing, being a jokester, and giving to others. She was a huge Tar Heels fan. She also enjoyed going to church, and watching her favorite TV shows on the Hallmark channel.
Nikita departed this life on September 4, 2019 at Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC. She was preceded in death by her father Mr. Thelmore Erving, Maternal Grandparents Mr. Ernest & Mrs. Lula Witherspoon Honeycutt, 4 aunts, Ms. Esthelene Honeycutt Washington, Ms. Ella Mae Honeycutt Ballard, Ms. Janie Lee Honeycutt Morrison, Ms. Ona Lee Honeycutt Rabb.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband Wendell Todd Ravenell, Mother Ora Lee Honeycutt (NY), Mother in Law Willie Mae Taylor (Charlotte, NC), Children, Torre Dontae Honeycutt, Malik Ishmael Ravenell, 1 stepson Christopher Michael Brown (Charlotte, NC), 3 Grandchildren, Amyricle Jemsion, Chroi Jemison, Chance Jemison (Atlanta, GA).
She also leaves behind to cherish her memory 1 sister Ms. Selena Riggins (Bronx, NY), 3 Brothers- in-Law Garret Taylor (Lashaun), Timothy Taylor, Shelton Taylor (Catherine), 2 Sisters-in-Law Doris Ravenell (Raymond), Trina Taylor (Zeb), 2 Aunts, Mrs. Thelma Honeycutt Williams (Charlotte, NC), Mrs. Lula Mae Honeycutt Woodard (Detroit MI), 1 Uncle, Mr. Johnny Honeycutt of Charlotte, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends. She will always be cherished in the heart of her life-long friend Janine Coldwell-Cathcart which they shared many memories together.
A public viewing for Mrs. Ravenell will be held on Monday, September 9, 2019, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, at Boston's Mortuary 4300 Statesville Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28269.
A funeral service to Celebrate the Life of Mrs. Ravenell will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 2901 Oneida Rd, Charlotte, North Carolina 28269. The visitation will begin at 11:30 AM and the funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM.
