Nathaniel Johnson, 93,  passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019.

Nathaniel Johnson was born May 29, 1926, to the late Willie and Bertha Aery Johnson. Mr. Nathaniel Johnson gracefully departed this life and entered into the loving arms of his Savior peacefully at home, on September 23, 2019, surrounded by the most important thing to him, and that’s family. Nat Johnson met the love of his life at the age of 20 and Married the late Lois Melton whom preceded him in death.

Nathaniel developed a passion for art, music, dancing, and singing as most did during that era. Nathaniel formed a Brotherhood, and of this Brotherhood the Southern Brothers Quartet was birthed. Nathaniel had the privilege of signing with the late Nappy Brown, Clyde Wright, and had a great love for Richard Smallwood. The love for Family took precedence over singing, Nathaniel made the ultimate sacrifice to raise his children. His gift of creativity and art landed him a position with Perry Sign Company, and Sign Art of Charlotte which he finally retired for the second time at the ripe age of 80 years young. One of his favorite people was his close friend, whom he called John Boy.

Nathaniel was a lover of Baseball, and was able to experience with his Grandchildren going to see the Atlanta Braves play. Nathaniel also loved going to the beach. Nathaniel would pack up his Monkey’s and hit the road to Atlantic Beach and hit the dance floor. Nathaniel lived a modest life, however he loved his 96 Dodge Ram conversion van, which was known to be called Lucille. Nathaniel was a Carolina Panther’s die hard fan, and enjoyed the Atlanta Falcons, and Philadelphia Eagles, you would often see him in his Michael Vick Jersey. Nathaniel didn’t mind calling you to talk football trash when your team was losing.

Nathaniel lived on his on, until his health started to decline in May of  2019. He then went to live with his Granddaughter whom cared for him until his assignment on this Earth was complete. Despite the pain and the emptiness felt. Nathaniel lived a full life of 93 years, and lost so many he loved along the way.
