Louis Melvin Mayfield departed his Earthly Home on December 1, 2018. Louis was born in Suffolk, Virginia on May 23, 1938, and was relocated to Brooklyn, New York shortly thereafter with his mother Gladys Lucille Mayfield.
Louis was a man of many talents. He was an artist, a singer, and a craftsman. Very early in life, Louis demonstrated his love of automobiles and the workings of auto mechanics. After attending Brooklyn High School of Automobiles, which specialized in the field he loved, Louis began his career working in the automobile industry.
While pursuing his automobile interests, Louis met his true love and life partner, Eula Geneva Mayfield. They married on August 29, 1959, and were blessed with 4 beautiful children. Their children, Lisi, Melvin, Joseph, and Curtis will continue to love and cherish Louis along with Louis' wife, Geneva; his brother, Harold Mayfield; sister, Robin Nesby; Sister-in-law, Delores Toomer, Rhoda Mayfield, and Josie Bradley; and brother-in-law, Gregory Bradley.
Louis accepted Christ in his life while attending Proverbs Church of God in Christ in New York City. He went on to become a Deacon at Proverbs Church and remained a disciple of Christ's teachings until he transitioned to his Heavenly Home.
Louis also leaves to cherish his life and legacy 12 Grandchildren, 15 Great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
A public viewing for Mr. Mayfield will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, at Boston's Mortuary 4300 Statesville Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28269.
The funeral service for Mr. Mayfield will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Boston's Mortuary. The visitation will begin at 12:00 PM and the funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Interment immediately following service at Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens 11201 Beatties Ford Road
