Joyce Elaine Wilkins Hicks, 72, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019.

Joyce Elaine Wilkins-Hicks was born on to Willis Reid Wilkins and Pattie Belle Perry in Franklin County, North Carolina.

Joyce received her formal education at FTCS Riverside High School, class of 1965, in Franklin County, NC.  Joyce was a high school basketball player. Joyce can be remembered for making a 3-pointer in one of her games, only for the coach to bench her, this of course made her mad.  Later she went on to attend New York University in New York NY.

Joyce spent more than 25 years employed with Lehman Brothers as an Administrative Assistant.  Before retiring from the company, she had definitely left her mark with her personality and care loving nature.

Joyce accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was a member of Brown Memorial Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY.  There she served as a deaconess and in the music ministry.  Joyce later became a member of Myers Tabernacle AME Zion Church where she served as a member of the willing workers ministry and the music ministry.

On July 2, 1991, Joyce was united in holy matrimony with Vincent Lewis Hicks in Brooklyn, New York.  There were soulmates and the best of friends.  Vincent loved Joyce since childhood.  She was truly the love of his life.

Joyce had a smile that would brighten up the darkest room and soothe the saddest of hearts.  She would give her all and give her last and never expected compensation of anything in return.  She had a heart of gold and the spirit of an angel.  Joyce will  truly be missed.

In her leisure, Joyce enjoyed sewing, singing, watching football, modeling, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
