Josephine B. Manneh, 60, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.

Josephine Domasine Manneh was born to James "Shorty" Sonpon Manneh and Jugbeh Dugba on July 26th, 1958 in Monrovia, Liberia West Africa. Josephine conducted her formal education at Samford Dennis High School in Monrovia. In search of a greater opportunity, she migrated to Brooklyn, New York, USA in 1979. 

While in Brooklyn, Josephine primarily focused on caring for her children and fellowshipping at God Naklen Church.  There she gained the alias "Mammie Queen", as her peers admired her beauty and bubbling personality.

In 2000, Josephine alongside her children relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina to be near her brother, Tieh-Weah Manneh. In Charlotte, she sought employment at Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Charlotte Mecklenburg School Systems (Steele Creek Elementary), where she maintained 17 years of employment until her untimely demise. Ma Joe, as she was commonly called, was an active member of North Davidson United Methodist Church, Circle of Grace, the Saint-Joseph Sports Assoc., Ah-Tee-Nah (Charlotte Chapter), Sisterhood and South Side. Until her passing, she maintained a devoted faith and love for Jesus Christ. 

Josephine Domasine Manneh, departed this life peacefully on January 1st, 2019, surrounded by her children. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jugbeh Dugba, father James "Shorty" Sonpon Manneh and Brother Newton Manneh. Josephine is survived by her six children, Elaine Chassagne (m. Serge Chassagne), Josephine Jugbeh Giles (m. Robert Giles), Richard Nyekan (m. Nekia Nyekan), Nimley D. Nyekan, Wesseh D. Nyekan and Kenisha J. Holder. She leaves to mourn three sisters, Deborah Manneh-Colautti (m. Ferruccio Colautti), Rebecca Tieh and Munah Sayon, brothers Judge Adido B. Dixon, Tieh-Weah Manneh (m. Oritha Manneh), Karpeh, Doe, Klohtweh, Manneh, Nyekan families and a host of family and friends in USA, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Europe and around the world.

A wake for Ms. Manneh will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019,  from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, at North Davidson United Methodist Church, 1025 E. 36th Street, Charlotte, North Carolina 28205.  

The funeral service for Ms. Manneh will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at North Davidson United Methodist Church.  The visitation will begin at 10:30 AM and the funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM.  Interment immediately following service at York Memorial Park 5150 S Tryon St, Charlotte, North Carolina 28217.

The Manneh Family has entrusted her care to Boston's Mortuary.
