John H. Ratchford, 63, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019.
John Harold Ratchford was born on November 2, 1955, in Rockhill, South Carolina. He departed this life on June 30, 2019, at Atrium Health.
Mr. Ratchford was born to Mary Ratchford an the late Zeke Ratchford. He was also preceded in death by 3 siblings.
Mr. Ratchford attended East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, NC. At an early age, he joined Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. He also served in the United States Army for a short term. John spent most of his professional career as a Chef at Aldersgate Retirement Community for 24 years until his retirement.
Mr. Ratchford was a loving son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He was respected and loved by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his loving memories are mother, Mary Ratchford; three daughters, Sanka McCorey (Robert), Sherika Rivers (Shawn), and Bridget Rivers (Corey); two sons, Kiev Ratchford and Antonio Wilson; He also leaves behind 3 siblings, Willie Ratchford (Deborah), Fannie Ratchford (Donnie) and Kimberly Ratchford; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grands; a special aunt, Bernestine Pressley; uncle, Charles McGriff; fiancée, Carol Ingram and a host of other loving family and friends.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:1-3
A service to Celebrate the Life of Mr. Ratchford will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019, at Boston's Mortuary 4300 Statesville Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28269. The visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and the funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM. Interment immediately following service at Sunset Memory Gardens 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina 28227.
