Geoffrey Jordan 72, passed away on September 29, 2019.
Geoffrey Melvin Jordan Sr. was born on Sept. 29, 1947, to Erline Madding Jordan and Randolph Jordan Sr. in Buffalo, New York.
Geoffrey received his formal education at Erie Community College, majoring in Business in Buffalo, NY. Geoffrey accepted Christ at Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church at the age of fifty-five and maintained a faithful membership until the commencement of his illness. Geoffrey was a faithful member of Narcotics Anonymous embracing a passion for the program for twenty-eight years where he became a predecessor.
Geoffrey was united in holy matrimony with Kathleen Jackson on December 2, 1965, in Buffalo, NY. Their union was blessed with two children.
Geoffrey enlisted into the United States Navy on September 1965, and was later honorably discharged.
Through his understanding and acclamation of the twelve steps and traditions of Narcotics Anonymous, his character developed, and he was recognized by the 6th North Carolina Fatherhood Conference as "Father of the Year". His passion for helping people through his commitment in Narcotics Anonymous and his career as an Outreach Specialist with Mecklenburg County Health Department for over twenty years afforded him the opportunity to help those who found themselves caught in the grips of a lifestyle that caused them to lose hope.
In Geoffrey’s leisure time, he enjoyed being a master domino player, the master of trash-talking, and an exquisite dresser. A legend in his own mind when it came to be the best that ever did it on the dance floor, “The Wobble” being his favorite song to dance to.
Geoffrey Melvin Jordan Sr. departed this life on September 29, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, Randolph Jordan Sr. (2010), his mother, Erline Madding Jordan (2002), his brother, Randolph “Randy” Jordan Jr. (2010), his ex-wife, Kathleen Jackson (2017), and Dennis Jordan Sr. (2007).
Geoffrey is survived by his eldest child and only son, Geoffrey Melvin Jordan Jr. (T-Bird), his eldest daughter, Timothi Jordan-Fancher and son-in-law David Fancher, his middle daughter, Geonna Jordan, and his youngest daughter, Geonnce Jordan; his grandchildren, Jackson Jordan-Fancher, David “Chase” Jordan-Fancher, Milan Jordan-Fancher; and his caring significant other, Blair Wakefield. He is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; it is said that his favorite cousins were Henry “Hank” Hollingsworth and Barbara Barbour, his nephews, Kenney Jordan Sr. and wife (Catherine Jordan), Michael Douglas, Chris Douglas Sr. and wife (Andrea Douglas), Wesley “Gerand” Jordan, Dennis Jordan Jr., Owen Jordan, Kenney Jordan Jr., and Jerome Jordan; his nieces, Terea Jordan, Andria Jordan, Yazmin Jordan, Zanthi Jordan, and others. Honorable mentions include Sameerah Clark who was one of his greatest confidants and caregivers.
A service to Celebrate the Life of Mr. Jordan will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church 1243 West Blvd, Charlotte, North Carolina 28208. The visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and the funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM. Interment will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at Salisbury National Cemetery 501 Statesville Blvd. Salisbury, North Carolina 28144.
