Gena Lockhart Erwin, 50, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018.
Gena R. Lockhart Erwin, the daughter of Vernon and Kay Miller, was born in Pageland, South Carolina, on March 3, 1968. She departed this life on Friday, May 11, 2018, at Wilora Lake Healthcare Center, where she was surrounded by her family.
Gena joined Oak Hill Church at an early age. She was educated in Chesterfield County Schools and in 1986, she graduated from Olympic High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Gena was a fun-loving person. She loved her children, grandchildren and her family, and she didn’t mind showing it. Gena was a wonderful woman who cared about more than just herself. She always welcomed everyone with open and loving arms. Gena was a great cook as well.
Gena is preceded in death by her biological father, Roylyn McManus and her grandparents.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, her sons, Brandon O’Neil Lockhart of the home, Cedric Lockhart (Biancha), DeVonte’ Erwin (Jasmine), Bruce Erwin, Jr., of Charlotte, NC; her mother and father, Vernon and Kay Miller of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Michael Lockhart of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Venita Nichols and Tasha McGill of Charlotte, NC; 5 grandchildren, Cedric, Jr., McKenzie, Ayrioni, Savannah, and Honest; 2 unborn children, Bella Renee Lockhart and Skylar Gizelle’ Erwin; 9 Aunts, 8 Uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; her special friends, Gaynelle Wherry, Debra McClain, Courtney Davis, Celeste McManus, Patricia and Ann Funderburk, and Phylis McClain; and a special nephew, Meachael Lockhart.
A public viewing for Ms. Erwin will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, from 2:00PM - 6:00PM, at Boston's Mortuary, 4300 Statesville Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28269.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church , 67 Oak Hill Church Lane, Pageland, South Carolina 29728. Family visitation will begin at 2:30pm and the funeral service will begin 3:00pm. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The Miller & Lockhart Family have entrusted arrangements to Boston's Mortuary.
