Eric Charles McCants, 55, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018.
Eric Charles McCants was born on December 5, 1962, to the union of John and Vivian McCants in Bronx, New York. Eric received his formal education in the New York City Public School System. He furthered his education at John Jay College in New York, NY. Eric accepted Christ as his savior at an early age. He was united in holy matrimony with LaShawn Keye on January 10, 1997, in Bronx, New York. Their union was blessed with one child. As the years passed, Eric was blessed with 4 more children.
Eric enlisted into the United States Navy in 1982, and was honorably discharged later that year. He was employed by the New York City Transit System for over a decade and as a train operator with CATS for four years. Eric was a member of Narcotics Anonymous, an organization that gave him strength and allowed him to form lifelong friendships.
In his leisure, Eric enjoyed reading, playing chess, traveling and making money. He was an avid pet lover and well known for being a night owl.
Eric Charles McCants departed this life on June 22, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry McCants; his son, Earl Charles McCants, and his uncle, Charles Edward Doley. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, four Daughters: Denise, Reshonia, Miaamour, and Jalena; one Son: Eric, II; Four grandchildren: Eric III, Erica, Corey, and Erin; mother: Vivian McCants; ex-wife: LaShawn; one brother: John; one sister: Jessica; sister in law: Samantha; two aunts: Lela and Bertha; ten cousins: Edward, Felicia; Richard, Germine, Ruben, Emmit, Brenda, Sheila, Tony, and Marty; one nephew: John; one niece, Zoya; and a host of other family and friends.
A memorial service for Mr. McCants will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Boston's Mortuary, 4300 Statesville Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 282069. The family visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and the memorial service will begin at 10:30 AM.
