Earl Duval Sutton, 61, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018.
Our beloved Earl Duval Sutton, son of Ms. Margie Lee Sutton and Mr. Willie Sutton Sr., was born on December 9, 1956 in Charlotte, NC. He attended Charlotte Mecklenburg School Systems and worked for Austin Tarpaulin as a tarp repairer for 15 years.
Earl was affectionately known as “Duke” (Duval) will always be remembered for his kind spirit, wise words, and most of all for his love for his family and friends. He was a “Die-hard” Dallas Cowboy fan and enjoyed fishing with his longtime friends. He was an amazing father, son , uncle and brother.
The man who was loved by all departed this life on November 23, 2018 in Concord, North Carolina. In addition to his father, Mr. Willie Sutton , Sr. he preceded in death by his brother, Victor Sutton; sister, Diane Sutton; and longtime companion Cora “Wood” Wall.
He is survived by his mother, Margie L. Sutton; four daughters, Maria VanDiver Alexander and husband John, Demetria Rachelle Burris, Tamara L. VanDiver, and Lakesha Sterling, all from Charlotte, NC; one sister, Phylis Sutton of Charlotte, NC; three brothers, Anthony Sutton and Collean Wilson and Willie Sutton, Jr. of Charlotte, NC and Rodney Sutton and wife Glinda of Sheby, NC; one aunt, Willie Mae McDonald; nine grand children; Shavea Dequon Stephens, Dontavious Sterling, Fantasia Evans, Jamod Burris, Emani Dulin, Johnathan Collicoate, Chloe Collicoate, and Khiya VanDiver all of Charlotte, NC; seven nephews: Michael Sutton (Donna), Otis Sutton (Angela), William Sutton, Rontri’ Cureton Sr., Ramon Taylor, Tito Price, Pokey Chisholm all of Charlotte NC; six nieces: Patasha Barnes, Tanisha Cureton, Tameka Sutton, Yulonda Grier, Tammy Sutton, and a host of extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at New Hope Baptist Church 1303 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, North Carolina 28205. The visitation will begin at 12:00 PM and the funeral service will begin at 12:30 PM.
The Sutton Family have entrusted his care to Boston's Mortuary.
